DCB's 10 Growth Statements
I know you're busy. If you don't have the ability to take notes, don't be afraid to come back to this. It's for you. Take any part of these elements I'm going to share with you. Write them down. Put them into your meaningful thoughts category, your suggestions that you need to have back in your brain to complete your day, your vision as you see fit.
Seriously, that's what shows are for, to go back and take some notes, and that's when we get more effective, by taking some notes. I want to welcome you to this episode called DCB’s Ten Growth Statements, and it's going to be fun. It's going to require a little bit of a skillset on your side if you have pen and paper to write some of these statements down or not, if not all of them. As a reminder, if you don't have the chance to capture these statements on paper, just email me at DCBStrategies.com and let me know, and I'll get them right back out to you.
DCB's Core Philosophy — "Being The Best Vs. Average"
It's more effective when you are immediately enthusiastic and emotionally involved in doing something good for yourself as it pertains to your growth journey. Before I start, let me share with you the phrase that defines our work at DCB Strategies and captures the results of achieving our bold goals with the required plan of accountability and purpose. Whether you are involved in professional or personal growth, this statement and this phrase will sum it up. Being the best and being average have nothing in common. That's right. Say it to yourself.
When you say that, your brain automatically says, “What am I?” We're not here to judge at DCB Strategies. We're here to put the line in the sand. The best is on that side. The average is on that side. Where do you want to continue your actions and thought process? What side do you want to be on? We clearly want to be on the best, the best we can give. We have one day to give every day. Let's give it our best, as opposed to average. Sure, we need a comfort zone to relax and chill out and get rejuvenated, but you also need a deliberate way of thinking about which the best incorporate.
Introduction To The 10 Growth Statements
We're going to talk a lot about that with these Ten Growth Statements. It's interesting that this session came about as a result years ago of a sales leader saying, “What can you say to my team,” team of 50 at the time, “That will empower them and write some things down they can start incorporating today or tomorrow? What can you wake them up with?” They've heard a lot of coaching and motivational talks. I said, “I've got just the thing.” Over the years, I, DCB, have had the pleasure of listening over the decades, listening and reading of what the best do and how they think.
It really appealed to me. A lot of these statements are from those excerpts and also from my own, which I put together as a result of that. I hope that you appreciate them. By the way, I did have the opportunity to give this Ten Growth Statement meeting to this group. It was a huge success. As a result, I repeated that many times as a sales leader to start the relationship with DCB strategies. It turns on brain circuits that we aren't used to turning on.
Being average is good, but the best strive for greatness. Let go of the good to reach for the great.
When you say something to yourself and you put yourself in that position, you start acclimating yourself to the accountability zone, which is the deliberate way of thinking. It's fun because it's just the way you think. We believe at DCB Strategies that if you train your brain, your body will follow. That's what the best do. I'm a little biased about these statements and passionate, as you will see. You will obviously feel the effects of it going through this conversation and hopefully appreciate that. Let's get involved in it.
I do want to make sure that I bring in one little tidbit really quickly because it's fun. I'm a little biased about these statements in a big way for the obvious reasons because I talk about them a lot. If I had the privilege of talking with you as a client or will have the opportunity, you'll hear these statements frequently because it affects everything we do.
As some of you may be already signed up with, and if you're not, please sign up with to the DCB Strategies and Wednesday Weekly Wisdoms. Every Wednesday morning, I talk about one word. We basically have a one-pager with 8 to 10 quotes that make that word eloquent, powerful, energizing, and emotional and allow you to have a very positive effect in your day.
Wednesday’s word is the word give. Here are 2 or 3 great quotes about give that have to do with what we're talking about. Give up the good to go for the great. That's right. Give up the good way of thinking to go for the great way of thinking. Get out of the comfort zone the good way, and that's okay. I'll just keep it there. I'm not going to really harp on that.
Average is good, but the best are great. Give up the good to go for the great. Start thinking great. All of a sudden, your actions will be great. As we all know, we are just as good with what we have. I'm always a proponent of we have all the resources we need. It's just a matter of putting our ability to them. We only have what we give. Give yourself an opportunity to embrace these ten statements and utilize them. The third quote regarding give is give yourself the gift of learning and utilizing these growth statements. Give yourself the gift. I appreciate your time in doing this. Let's get right into it.
#1 - The Size Of Our Thinking Influences The Size Of Our Successes
The number one growth statement of ten. Number one, the size of our thinking influences the size of our successes. Some people say the size of our believing influences the size of our successes also. Thinking and believing can be the same. I'm not going to split hairs here. Think big. Successes become bigger. There is a great author who wrote a book, The Magic of Thinking. He determines that the way we think determines our accomplishments. It's exactly the truth. Number one, the size of my thinking influences the size of my success.

#2 - Excitement Breaks Barriers
Number two, excitement breaks barriers. Have you ever met anybody who's excited that said they had barriers or obstacles in front of them? They're just fired up to go do something. No, they don't. When you're emotionally engaged in doing something that's exciting you, you don't see many things around you that provide obstacles or a week here at DCB Strategies call them obstacle illusions. You break those barriers down.
When you get to them, you deal with them but don't put them in front of you to stop your journey before it even begins. It's important that we think big and we build excitement. The way you do that is you have to be emotionally energized that provide focus. If you're not, you're not excited. If you're not emotionally energized and provide focus, you're not excited because it won't matter at that point. Find a way that you get excited about achieving your growth goal or that large achievement that's highly desirable, and you can’t wait to get it accomplished. Get excited about getting involved.
#3 - Change Is Constant But I Control My Attitude And Abilities
Number three statement, change is constant, but we control the levels of our attitudes and abilities. Let me put it in the I framework. Change is constant, but I control the levels of my attitudes and my abilities. There's a statement about the higher the attitude, the higher the altitude. Personally, it's true. Those who have great attitudes are contagious. When you're contagious, you're doing something right. Your brain waves, your thought process is clear, energetic, and positive. Change is constant, but I control the levels of my attitude and abilities.
Abilities is for free. It's just a matter of using your God-given abilities. There's a truism that planes fly faster at higher altitudes because the air is thinner. Just for fun, think about that one. I want to fly faster. I have a higher attitude that gives me a higher altitude. My ability will follow. We train our brains and our bodies will follow. That's number three.
#4 - Present-Tense And Positive Self-Talk
Number four. Talk to yourself in the present tense and use positive self-talk. Use the word I am. Not past tense, “I should have, could have, would have.” Not future tense, “I will, I'm going to.” Those are dangerous. They won't get you anywhere. They let you sit in a comfort zone. They don't make you accountable. When you put the word I am in the present tense and you talk to yourself in a positive self-talk, such as, “I am highly disciplined. I am eternally motivated. I am making ten large calls to large clients. I am organized in discipline.”
“I am accomplishing my goal this month. I am willing to do the work necessary.” think about the power of the words I am. It makes you uncomfortable at first when you put everything into the I am and forget about the future and the past. You put it all in the I am present sense. Positively, it starts you on a growth journey that your brain will fire up all brain circuits and go, “We are really in the deliberate way of thinking now.” Not the default way of thinking, which is, “I will, I'm going to, or I should, or I could have.” That's a comfort zone.
#5 - Challenges Require Changes
Number five statement. Challenges require changes. I want you to write the word challenge down. Write it down or think about it if you cannot write it down. In the word challenge, the letters, you will find the word change. Every challenge you are in front of, whether it's a challenge to put a process in place, a challenge to find effort, or a challenge to memorize and exercise and utilize these statements, changes the way you're thinking. If you change the way you're thinking, you'll change your results. Challenges can be met with a change in thinking. Number five, challenges require changes. Whenever you see the word challenge, the word change is there.
If you change the way you think, you'll change your results.
#6 - I Have The Will To Win And The Will To Prepare To Win
Number six, many have the will to win, but few have the will to prepare to win. Let me put it in the I sense. “I have the will to win, and I also have the will to prepare to win.” The word prepare. Number six is powerful. You cannot get anything done unless you're willing to put the work in to prepare. “I have the will to prepare to win.” Many want to win, but they don't want to prepare. Vince Lombardi said it decades ago, “The will to win is not nearly so important as the will to prepare to win.” Whether he made it up or he also energized and passed it on from another source, it's powerful. Everybody wants to win, but not everybody has the will to prepare to win.
#7 - The Way We Do Anything Is The Way We Do Everything
Number seven regarding habits. Habits influence everything we do. Here's the statement. The way we do anything is the way we do everything. From the moment you wake up in the morning, how you talk to yourself to the end of the day, and how you look at the day as a result of your decisions, that was a reflection of the way we do anything is the way we do everything.
There's a gentleman named Simon Sinek. He wrote a book called Leaders Eat Last. He attributes this concept to Zen Buddhism. It's in a self-discovery workbook that he put together titled How You Do Anything Is How You Do Everything. It's true. It's a matter of creating the right habits. You create new habits that make you grow every day. You will have growth results that require you to be contagious and excited about your results because of the growth that you're achieving. That was number seven. The way we do anything is the way we do everything.
#8 - Effort Is Free
Number eight, effort is for free. How many times do we know that it takes effort to get something done, but we say, “I don't have the time,” or, “I don't have the energy.” If you don't, it doesn't matter. Effort is for free, by the way. Go to the effort bank. It's always ready to deposit effort in your hand. Now you’ve got to use it. Those who have the most effort and put it forth are emotionally energized and obviously don't mind getting it done. Effort is for free. Whenever you're thinking about something and may take some time or effort, remember that effort is for free. It's all about incorporating that and just ponder on that and see if you're taking advantage of that free gift.
#9 - Educate To Obligate
Number nine, educate to obligate. That's right. When you educate yourself, whether it's reading or listening, etc., you're obligated to incorporate or not incorporate what you're learning. Educate yourself. Also, when you sell something to sell somebody, because this is a salesperson show, sell them on educating them about something, about the element that you're talking about. They're obligated to talk to you and listen to you. They feel refreshed that you're not just doing the average sales pitch.
No, you're educating them on something about that element that they're interested in buying. You have to take the time or effort to think about how you're proposing and making that storyboard an educational lift to obligate them. More than 1 or 2 ways of thinking about educate. Educate yourself. You're obligated to move on because you're learning and then educate to obligate in selling because you're obligating the client or the audience to listen to you and then come back to you potentially for another idea.
#10 - The Pain Of Discipline Or Regret
Number ten, the pain of discipline or the pain of regret? I don't want the pain of regret of not getting it done. I just adore the pain of discipline. Keep in mind that discipline is there always if you know you've established it. Motivation is the starting point for many. Motivation goes away. It's an emotion that fades. If it doesn't, great. If it does, all you have left is the discipline or your old habits. If you create new disciplines or new habits, you have a new routine. Thus, you continue on with new results. Number ten is probably the most powerful because I don't mind incorporating discipline to minimize or negate the regret of never getting it done. That's the hardest thing to live with, the regret of never getting it done, specifically if these big, bold goals matter to you.

Mastering The 10 DCB Growth Statements
There you have it. Those are the ten DCB growth statements. It's important to know that those statements are great, but how do I utilize them? Here are a couple of ways to start utilizing them right now. When you get finished with this show and you have time, write down and start today or tomorrow. Write down and memorize one growth statement every other day. Give time for that statement to soak in. You can ponder about it. Have many different applications involved in swirling around it.
For example, “The way I do anything is the way I do everything.” Soak on that for a day and a half. You'll really think about what you're doing that influences the beginning of your day to the end of your day. At the end of the day, we're the result of our decisions. Write down and memorize one growth statement every other day. In that time frame, let it ponder and let it grow within you. Apply that statement also to a new bold growth goal for next month. That's right. That's assuming you have a bold growth goal every month or, if not, every quarter. Apply it to it.
You have a bold growth goal. Apply it. Write down what comes to mind, the 2 or 3 things with that statement during that every-other-day break. Write down. It's powerful what comes to mind as a reflection. Here's, for example, “Growth goal. I am raising X amount of money this month with sales with this product. That requires me to think big. Thus, the size of my thinking influences the size of my success. That's why my goal is to raise X amount of money this month with this product. I'm thinking big.”
Excitement breaks down barriers. “I'm excited to incorporate the daily actions to get this done and to accomplish it because I've never done it before. I'm emotionally engaged. I'm energized. It makes me excited. I see no obstacles. Excitement breaks down barriers. I know that I control the level of my attitude and my abilities. My attitude is great, and I control my abilities to the highest levels because I'm very able I will accomplish. I am accomplishing this goal.” I just went through three. Think big, excitement breaks barriers, and the word control is I control the levels of my attitude and abilities.
You go through the next seven with that sale or that big, bold goal, you're going to see those statements and how meaningful they are to you to achieve your goal or your highly desired achievement in front of that. You see it. Don't be afraid. Go for it. Remember, effort's for free. Let's repeat it. I'm going to repeat those ten DCB Growth Statements. Here we go. Are you ready? I'm going to repeat it in the I format. Here we go.
The size of my thinking influences the size of my success, number one. Excitement breaks barriers, number two. I control the levels of my attitude and my abilities. That's number three. Number four, I am in present tense, and I talk to myself in positive self-talk. Number five, challenges require changes. Challenges require a change of thinking, trains my brain and my body will follow. Number six, I have the will to win, but I also have the will to prepare to win.
Number seven, the way I do anything is the way I do everything. Number eight, I know effort is for free, and I'm going to go get a lot of it and utilize a lot of it to accomplish my goal. Number nine, I educate to obligate. I educate myself and educate my audiences to obligate. Number ten, I love the pain of discipline because I don't want the pain of regret. I love the pain of discipline. I don't want the pain of regret.
Motivation fades—it's an emotion that comes and goes. If it stays, great. If it doesn't, all you're left with is discipline or your old habits. By creating new discipline and habits, you build a new routine, move forward, and achieve new results.
Those ten growth statements will put a tattoo on your brain circuits. I'm serious. Start trying them out. Thank you for your time. This is a powerful time of growth because that's what it's all about. Every day, we have the opportunity to wake up and tell ourselves something in the present tense to start our day and to continue our day. We are a result of our decisions and the way we talk to ourselves that day at the end of the day. I hope you enjoyed this discussion with a not a unique but a very straightforward way of thinking and setting up your thinking with these statements, thus influencing your daily actions. I know they'll have an influence on your daily actions and results.
